Last week, nearly $900,000 in federal funding was announced in support of the Franklin Avenue Park. For those following along, it’s critically important to understand that this work is, at its core, a complete community effort. Without the ongoing work of the City of Aliquippa, Mayor Dwan B Walker, Donald C. Walker III, and the Aliquippa Economic Development Corporation, this project would not have been possible.

The City of Aliquippa provided 100 year leases on parcels where the park will be constructed. And the Aliquippa Economic Development Corporation made generous funding available to complete critical early stages of the project.

Communities become healthier when they work in collaboration with one another. The work that is taking place at The Franklin Avenue Park is an example of what it looks like when city officials and community organizations work together toward a common goal. All who are involved are thankful for our city and for its growing leadership on these kinds of transformative projects. We expect this is just the beginning of the journey!
